RE: Performing in this year’s recital
For the past 5 or more years I have combined our groups so that everyone could dance together. Although that model is still a goal of mine, I recognize the value in each group developing a performance piece that showcases their talents. With this being the 35th recital, I’m bringing back two favorite pieces from our adult repertoire and premiering a new piece of choreography for adults.
“Mercy” – All dancers but especially the 6:00 students. I invite all dancers to join the 6:00 dancers in performing “Mercy” a hip, high-energy piece that showcases the youthfulness and funky rhythms of our adult community. If you want to learn this dance, please begin to view the choreo on the blog and attend the 6:00 class. In addition, several rehearsals will be scheduled on Sundays. See schedule below.
“Lullaby of Birdland” – 7:00 dancers and any 8:00 dancers that would like to perform/learn this dance. To participate, please commit to regular attendance at the 7:00 class as well as occasional Sunday rehearsals that will be scheduled. Practice with the videos will also help.
“Listen Here” – 8:00 dancers – I think we can set this within the Monday night regular class time so I don’t anticipate Sunday rehearsals unless some dancers want to participate in the other repetoire. A Sunday rehearsal will be scheduled if necessary.
There are three shows and each routine will be performed in one show (I wish I could invite all the routines to be in all the shows L). There are no extra fees for the Sunday rehearsals. A small costume fee may be charged if we rent costumes from our inventory at The Dance Inn.
At this time, the performance schedule is below:
COSTUMES – as always, we’ll discuss costumes at the first rehearsals but adults always perform in streetwear with a little flair. The goal is to be comfortable and confident.

Mercy – Sunday, February 12, 26, March 5, 12 – 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Lullaby of Birdland – Sunday, February 26, March 5, 12 – 11:00 – 12:00 pm
EVERYONE:
Mandatory dress rehearsal for all adult performer
Sunday, March 26th – 5:30 -7:00pm at Lexington High School
